The PRIME project has several objectives, all of which lead to improving the quality of the study abroad experience for Erasmus students, thereby promoting and increasing mobility for learning purposes. The aim is to draw the attention of the actors and parties involved in the recognition process to the students` permanent problems and obstacles and to provide them with the best practices and possible solutions. The guided internship is not a way to simply get college credits by going to work; This is a structured, guided and intensive independent study project involving the student, an academic sponsor and the student`s field supervisor, all of whom must understand and promote the fulfillment of the learning contract. The student will apply, critique and expand the knowledge they have acquired in class. Students can research new theories and ideas relevant to the particular context in which they are working and create a final project that presents their findings and recommendations in an academically rigorous and rhetorically competent manner. UW Bothell School of Business is committed to giving students the opportunity to earn internship credits for experiential learning in the business world. Well-designed and implemented internships incorporate practical experience into a student`s curricular training, enriching their preparation for the job market. The person at your internship location who knows what and how well you work will be your field service representative. Before and during the internship, you must work directly with this person and make explicit agreements regarding general goals, projects, tasks, hours and other expectations. These criteria must be defined in the apprenticeship contract. The field supervisor should work with your academic sponsor to ensure that you learn from your experience and progress in your academic project, not just doing a job. Give your supervisor a copy of the student internship performance evaluation form when you plan the internship. Registration for your internship can only be made after having drawn up an apprenticeship contract signed by the three partners (intern, academic sponsor, field supervisor). Bring a copy of the signed contract to a business school advisor to obtain the signature of the associate director of the business school. As an intern, you must carry out an academic project and all assigned tasks and aspects of the apprenticeship contract according to jointly agreed criteria. It is your responsibility to initiate and complete the development of the learning contract and to obtain the approval of the academic sponsor and supervisor in the field. It is also your responsibility to meet all deadlines and complete all activities and tasks associated with the internship. Intermediate and final assessments of your internship are required, as well as a formal report detailing what you learned during the internship and how this applies to your courses at UWB. It is the student`s responsibility to plan the internship. Start at least one term before signing up for internship credit based on your internship page and academic sponsor. When looking for an internship at Career Services, inquire about internship positions on the handshake. Know that a successful internship takes place in a company whose culture/mission aligns with your own goals and values. A good internship should provide you with a learning experience with clear tasks, content-related work, and proper supervision. Your academic sponsor must be a UWB faculty member. The role of an academic sponsor and UWB project manager is to help you develop your goals, be in regular contact with you to discuss your project and on-site experience, stay in touch with your field service manager, and evaluate your performance when signing the contract.
It is highly recommended to work with a faculty member who has an interest or expertise in the field you want to learn more about. It is useful to know them through the previous courses so that you are aware of their expectations, personal style, grading, etc. Discuss your plans with a potential academic sponsor and give them clear goals and structure for your internship. . In order to raise students` awareness of recognition issues, a guide with a video guide is also created. It will be a short but comprehensive brochure containing the most relevant information on the recognition process and the rights and obligations of students for exchange students. It will be distributed to Erasmus students via the International Relations Offices and will be available on the project website in September. How many internship points count for my degree? A total of ten internship and/or self-study credits are allowed as part of the Business Administration program. If further appropriations are desired, a petition must be submitted for approval. The aim of this study is to examine the work of national agencies and the practices of different universities and faculties across Europe with regard to the following aspects: provision of information on Erasmus exchanges, calculation of academic results, negotiation and signature of the learning contract, its validity, recognition of courses, the system for the transfer and distribution of Erasmus grants. Guided internships usually last a full term, but can span several terms. They can be taken for a variable amount (1-10) of credits. The things to consider when choosing the number of credits for your internship are 1) the time you have each week for an internship, 2) how you want to apply the credits to your program of study, and 3) the maximum number of internship points allowed. Between the end of May and the beginning of November, national and local dissemination conferences will take place in twelve European countries.
Their aim is to present the results of PRIME research with a focus on national and local realities, as well as to discuss possible solutions with stakeholders and decision-makers. How do internship points apply to my degree? Internship points can be used for general elective courses. For most students, it makes sense to complete a 5-credit internship so that the internship credit can take the place of another 5-credit course. However, internships with less than 5 credits can also be completed. How much time do you have for an internship? For each loan you sign up for, you will need to work on the internship for more than 3 hours per week throughout the term. This means that if you sign up for 5 credits, you will spend 15 hours per week in your internship, 3 credits equals 9 hours per week, etc. Another way to look at time commitment is that each loan equates to 30 hours of work throughout the quarter. With this calculation, a 5-credit internship requires 150 hours of work.
